About Me
Hi, I'm Sherrie Galatas, the creator behind S.G. Scribbles — where creativity meets education!
I'm a proud wife of 23 years and a mom to two wonderful college-age children. Our family is rooted in the vibrant culture and resilience of New Orleans, Louisiana, a city that has shaped much of who I am today.
Our journey hasn't always been easy. When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, my children were still babies. Like so many families, we faced enormous challenges — one of the biggest being the sudden loss of childcare and early education resources. It was a time that required perseverance, creativity, and a deep commitment to helping my children thrive despite the circumstances.
My son, in particular, faced an early hurdle with a hearing impairment. Thanks to doctors, dedicated speech therapy, and countless hours of home-based learning activities, he overcame his delay — and today, he’s sharp, articulate, and full of promise. Watching him grow taught me firsthand the incredible power of early literacy, patience, and playful learning.
This personal experience inspired my passion for creating educational coloring books and resources that blend fun, creativity, and real learning.
Through S.G. Scribbles, I want to offer parents, teachers, and caregivers the kinds of tools I wish I had during those critical early years — tools that make learning joyful, accessible, and meaningful.
On the blog, I share articles about early literacy, phonics vs. whole language approaches, creative learning ideas, and more. Whether you are here for educational resources, parenting support, or a little inspiration, know that you are part of a community that believes it truly does "take a village to raise a child."
Thank you for visiting S.G. Scribbles! I hope you'll find something here to inspire you and the amazing young learners in your life.
